Martin Haley

Hi, my name is Martin Haley as you may have realised by now! I just wanted to tell you a little about myself so you can get to know me a bit before you make your decision to train with us. I realise Personal Fitness Coaching is a big investment both in term of financial outlay and time, so you need to know both of those are well spent.

I got into training other people for health and fitness around 1993 while still working in the chemical industry. At this time I was still an international level distance runner of nearly 20 years. Towards the end of my running career, I studied Sports Massage purely because I thought it was interesting and could see it may help me preventing my own injuries and I also thought it may help knowing how the body worked. I eventually had team mates and friends asking for Sports Massage sessions on a regular basis. This then lead to people asking for for rehab exercises so I thought I had better go and get qualified in Fitness Instruction, which I did in 1997.

I worked a few gyms over the next few years but didn’t get on with those running the facilities as I have an issue with ‘bosses’ especially those I feel don’t know what they are talking about. In 1999 I studied Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation as I felt this was also very necessary due to the increase in enquiries for this service.

Over the next few years, I studied Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which is the art of modeling and understanding how people operate which really helps getting to grips with what clients are going through when they come to us for coaching. In 2006 I left the chemical industry, and employment for that matter, and began working full time for myself.

From 2006 through 2008, I studied the Society of Sports Therapists dilpoma course near Manchester. Every year since I have studied elements of health AND fitness in order to be the best I can for my clients.some of what I have studied includes;

  • Level 1, 2 an 3 Kinetic Chain Specialist – with Dax Moy
  • Kettlebell Coach – with Steve Cotter
  • Nutrition & Health – with Phil Richards
  • POWER Principles Coaching – with Dax Moy
  • Business mentoring with Dax Moy, and Rachel & Alwyn Cosgrove

Now, I’m not trying to impress you with badges here. It’s more a case of letting you know that I spend a lot of money each year, sometimes around £10, 000, on my education to improve my skills. That all goes towards giving you a better service and getting YOU better results, which is what it’s all about.

At present, I operate out of a small PT studio in Barry where all our treatments and most of our training takes places. we do have our outdoor Fit Camps and some classes away from the studio but we are looking for bigger premises in order to bring all our services into one facility.

Our whole ethos is getting our clients outstanding results in terms of Fat Loss and Health…

On a personal note, I am married to Jane (a fellow fitness nut) and we have our beloved Archie, a Weimaraner, that takes up a lot of our spare time with walks or runs.

I hope that gives you a small insight to me and how we work and I hope we can work together soon to achieve your goals
